Join DACOR for a wine tasting evening featuring SHABO Winery. Since 2003, SHABO Winery has been creating Great Wines that have gained wide international recognition, proving that Ukraine is a wine making country with huge potential. The winery was founded by Vaja Iukuridze and his family and boasts more than 200 years of wine making traditions.
Shabo is one of the oldest Ukrainian terroirs. Its history dates back more than 2,000 years. Located between the Dniester estuary and the Black Sea, offering perfect soils and climate, this region and its potential was highly appreciated by Swiss colonists as early as 1822. They founded a wine-making settlement, developing viticulture and wine making in the region. SHABO has a long path from the oldest winery in the village of Shabo to one of the most technologically advanced enterprises in Ukraine.
The tasting will be led by Sam Lerman, founder and CEO of SPYRT Worldwide, a distributor of Ukrainian goods in the U.S. He will lead a discussion about the history of Ukrainian wine and SHABO and a tasting of a curated selection of wines. Matched food pairings will be served with the wine.
