Event Name:
Coercive Population Control in China: Unintended Consequences and Lingering Effects

Description:
Ms. Littlejohn will discuss the impact of China's One-Child Policy, now it's Two-Child Policy, from a variety of perspectives, addressing historical, human rights and demographic concerns.   She will also provide an update on the current status of population control in the world's most populous nation and offer thoughts on possible solutions going forward.

Reggie Littlejohn is the founder and President of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers.  www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org.  A graduate of Yale Law School and an experienced litigation attorney, she is an acclaimed international expert on China’s One Child Policy.  Her organization has been called the “leading voice” in the battle to expose and oppose, forced abortion and gendercide (the sex-selective abortion of females) in China.

Women’s Rights Without Frontiers is unique because the organization has “boots on the ground” – a network of fieldworkers -- inside of China.  Their “Save a Girl” campaign finds women who are being pressured to abort or abandon their babies because they are girls and enables them to keep their daughters by providing the family with monthly stipends for a year.  WRWF’s “Save a Widow” Campaign is offering life-saving support to destitute widows in the Chinese countryside, the invisible victims of China’s One-Child Policy.
