This holiday concert features a single masterwork: the Octet in F major D 803. Composed for violins, viola, cello, clarinet, French horn, bassoon and double bass, it was finished in 1824 by Franz Schubert (1797-1828) four years before his death. The octet boasts the largest scale for a chamber work in six glorious movements. Kyung Leblanc, violin, and Sean Neidlinger of The Sage Ensemble will be joined by: Brian Bak, violin; Matthew Moffet, viola; Greg Watkins, double bass; Jonathan Troy, clarinet; Eric Dircksen, bassoon; and Nathaniel Willson, French horn.
Come enjoy mulled wine and savor this seldom-performed magnificent gift of the season.
