DACOR's Travel Committee invites you to tour a relatively unknown gem of history in our midst:
President Lincoln's Summer Cottage on the beautiful and peaceful grounds of the Soldiers' Home is located near DC's Petworth neighborhood. The entrance is at 140 Rock Creek Church Rd., NW. This is often called Lincoln's summer house--a place where he'd escape the heat of DC—and the place where he wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. The docents leading the one-hour Signature guided tour will make the Cottage and especially Lincoln’s ideas come to life. After the tour, there will be time to study the exhibits and visit the gift shop (the Cottage closes at 4:30 pm). Children and grandchildren age 6 and older are welcome.
Limited tickets available.
