Africa Discussion Group
2/15/2022
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

Event Description
For this month's Africa Discussion Group, we will hold a hybrid event - you have the option of attending in person as usual or virtually. All attendees must register.

The Africa Discussion Group is delighted to welcome Amb. Herman J. "Hank" Cohen as its guest speaker at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 15.  Amb. Cohen is the doyen of Old Africa Hands around Washington.  He served as Ambassador to Senegal and the Gambia, and later as Assistant Secretary for African Affairs.  He lectured at the John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.  He is a scholar in his own right.  He will discuss his most recent book US Policy Toward Africa:  Eight Decades of Realpolitik.  We will also ask him about his recent articles urging stronger focus on African affairs in US foreign policy.

The DACOR cash bar opens at 12 noon and the group moves to a reserved table at Members' Lunch at 12:30 pm. Attendees have the option of participating in the Members' Lunch for $35, or joining the discussion group without eating (no charge). Registrations are required for all participants.

DACOR follows CDC and District of Columbia COVID guidelines:  You must wear a mask indoors regardless of vaccination status unless actively eating and drinking. Visitors are required to show proof of vaccination in the form of a vaccination card, a clear photo of your card, or a DC-approved app. Visitors must also present a photo ID. When registering for in-person attendance, you will be required to attest that you are fully vaccinated and will ensure that any guests you bring to the House are also fully vaccinated.
