The stirring melodies of Maurice Ravel's "Chansons Madécasses - Songs of Madagascar" composed in 1925-26 open the fall season with the lyric mastery of Rosa Lamoreaux, soprano, in concert with the string complement of Arco Voce: Steve Honigberg, cello; Steven Silverman, piano; and guest flutist Robin Kani. This seldom-performed work by Ravel employs the freedom texts of the 18th century poet Évariste de Parny. Also on the program will be Andre Previn's "Four Songs" for soprano, piano and cello; "Deux Poémes de Ronsard" by Roussell for soprano, flute and piano; "Three Spanish Songs" by Salas for soprano and flute; and several mélodies of Gabriel Fauré.
